Lakme Absolute Matte Melt Liquid Lip color review

Hello beauties ! Hope you are having a good week.

Lakme launched their new matte liquid lipstick range couple of months back. This is part of their Absolute range, so the price is slightly on the higher side compared to other Lakme product ranges. Each Lakme Absolute Matte Melt Liquid Lip color contain 6 ml product and costs INR 750.

Lakme and I have a love-hate relationship since my school days. The first ever makeup brand I ever tried was Lakme, because my mom used to love their lipsticks and nail paints back in the day. I love a lot of their products like Lakme Absolute Mattreal Mousse (used it religiously in college), 9 to 5 Lipsticks, Absolute Argan oil lip color and Argan oil serum foundation. But most of the other products are average, kind of OK or do not perform well on my skin. Me and my favorite Indian beauty youtuber Shreya Jain share almost the same opinion about Lakme products. About this Matte Melt liquid lipstick, she really had some great things to say. So I decided to try it for myself.

They have total 8 shades available in India. I absolutely fell in love with the color 04 Mulberry Feast. So that was the product I bought first last month to try out the formula. I loved it so much that I bought another shade 05 Red Smoke. I tried the other shades as well at the Lakme counter. The other colors I liked were Crazy Tangerine (orange), Vintage Pink (pink nude) and Mild Mauve (mauve nude).

In this post I will be sharing with you my personal opinions in detail about the Lakme Matte Melt Lip color range and each of the shades I own.

The packaging looks good. The glass body feels heavy, sturdy and expensive 🙂 It is good that it has a transparent body, that way it is easier to identify the shade. It is a little but bulky, but that is alright, you can still carry it in your handbag.

The wand is perfect in length. The tip is the usual doe foot applicator. It picks up enough product to cover 1 lip in one go. Since the product is also well pigmented, you need to dip the wand less number of times.

The formula is neither too runny nor too thick. The product glides smoothly on the lip. It feels very light on the lips. Also it feels moisturizing for quite some minutes after application. It takes time to dry down completely and once it does it turns completely matte. Though it is a matte liquid formula it is very comfortable to wear and does not dry down your lips like most of the others. It stays on my lips for about 7 to 8 hours if I do not take any heavy meals. In case you enjoy a hearty meal, it will fade away but the tint will still remain. The lipsticks does not transfer too much once it dries up completely.

Re-applying any liquid lipstick is always a task. I prefer scrubbing my lips well and moisturizing, then reapply the product. Since this Matte Melt Lip colors do not dry our your lips to the extremes, you will need much less effort to prep your lips on the go.

These are the swatches of the 2 shades I own.

04 Mulberry Feast is a beautiful burgundy color. This is my favorite shade out of the entire range. (Head to my Instagram to see how this lip shade looks on me) My mom, my girlfriends everybody loves this color and purchased one for themselves 🙂

05 Red Smoke is a burnt brick red color with brown undertones. A very beautiful red yet looks very different from most of the red lip colors I own. Its not a in your face super bright red, so if you are afraid of wearing bold shades, this is the one you can for. This color will still brighten up your face and make you look glam with minimum makeup.

Both the shades are very pigmented and look stunning on the lips. Both colors will suit every skin tone. Red Smoke you can wear anywhere even to office / college. Just dab a little on your lips for a beautiful tint. Mulberry Feast is a very festive party night time glam lip color.

Usually dark colors like wine red and burgundy are difficult to create as per my knowledge. Mulberry Feast needs a little more effort than the other shade. A single layer may look patchy and uneven. So layer it up 2 to 3 times to get the maximum color pay off and opaque even application. Red Smoke is a one swipe color, but you can layer it one more time to deepen up for maximum color pay off.

Rating : Mulberry Feast – 4/5, Red Smoke – 4.5/5

Will I re-purchase ? Honestly I never repurchase any lip product only because I love trying out new ones. But that does not at all mean that I do not like these.

Lakme has come out with a really impressive product after their Argan oil range. I really love it and highly recommend !

Hope you enjoyed reading Lakme Matte Melt Liquid Lip color review and my opinions helped you in some way.

Let me know in the comment section if you already own any of these lip colors and share your experience. Also let me know your favorite liquid matte lipstick so that I can try out in future.
