Comparison – Toni&Guy High Shine serum Drops & BBLUNT Intense Moisture Hair Serum

Hello everybody !! Wish you a happy and fun weekend ahead.

I compared 2 hair masks last week, hope that post helped you. Today’s post is a similar one where I will let you know pros and cons of 2 of my favorite hair serums. In the end you will find out which one is better. There are so many similar options available in market that sometimes it is difficult to differentiate products, also we do not understand which products will suit our requirement. I hope posts like these will help you come to a conclusion better.

As you know I suffer from frizzy and dry hair. Also I use heat tools like blow-dryer and straightener to style my hair once or twice a week. So hair serum is a must for me.

But since I have thin hair, most of the hair serums weigh down my hair and they appear oily, sticky or limp. Some not-so-good quality ones just make my hair tangle free for sometime and then disappear within an hour. After trying a lot of products my current favorites are Toni&Guy High Shine Serum Drops and BBlunt Intense Moisture Hair Serum. Both of these have a gel like consistency and on the affordable side.

Before I begin with the comparison, I will share with you 2 more options I like in hair serum category which you can try out if you have extremely dry damaged chemically treated hair or you have a lot of frizzy unmanageable hair. These are light weight oil based serums which I generally use only in winters, but they are very good quality. I am talking about L’Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Huile Richesse (100ml for INR 995) and Wella Professional Luminous Oil Reflections Smoothing Oil (100ml for INR 1000). Let me know if you want a detailed review post on any of these products.

Lets get started !!

This is how the 2 bottles look like. Both have a transparent plastic body which makes it easier to see how much product is left. Also both have pumps to dispense the product.

The BBlunt bottle comes with a cap which I think is more secure for travel purpose. The bottle is taller but light weight compared to the other product. The Toni&Guy serum has a pump which gets locked if you twist it. On twisting in opposite direction the pump opens and you can take the product out. The bottle is smaller in size but heavier.

The ingredient list of both products are mentioned on the bottle. As you can see in the pics below, BBlunt serum contains Avocado oil, jojoba oil and argan oil which are really good for hair.

The directions to use, brand claims and other details are also mentioned in the product body for both the serums. Like any serum, you have to take few pumps of product (depending on quantity & length of your hair) and rub it between your fingers. Then spread the serum evenly from mid-length to ends of your hair. Never apply serum on or near your scalp area. Take a wide tooth comb / tangle teezer and brush your hair gently.

Also it is better to apply serum on damp hair. So just after you have washed your hair, let your towel soak up the excess water and then apply serum. If you want to use ant heat tools to style your hair, wait for the serum to completely get absorbed into your hair. You can directly go with the heat tools if you have already applied serum, but I always prefer to use a hair protection mist as an extra protection 🙂

Both the serums have transparent gel like consistency. The BBlunt serum is more runny and light weight, Toni&Guy one is quite thick. Both products smell good, but I prefer the smell of the BBlunt serum and it also lasts very long on my hair. Because the BBlunt serum is runny and light weight I feel it is slightly easier to spread evenly on my hair than the Toni&Guy one. Also BBlunt product gets absorbed much faster. Both these products make your hair smooth, shiny, tangle free and tames down frizz.

The Toni&Guy is more on the heavier side. If you have very thin hair and you want more volume, this serum will not work for you. I only use it in winters when my hair is extra dry and frizzy. I expected this product to last more time than the BBlunt one because it was thicker. I know that logic may sound stupid, but thats just what I thought. But in reality the BBlunt serum stays on my hair and keeps it frizz-free and smooth for longer time compared to Toni&Guy.

Toni&Guy serum may work better if you have coarse / curly hair or thick damaged / chemically treated hair.

You can guess for sure which one I like and use more 😀

Rating : BBlunt – 4.5/5, Toni&Guy – 3.5/5

Will I repurchase ? BBlunt – YES, I love it. Toni&Guy – maybe

I like both the serums. But if I have to choose only 1 out of these 2, I will definitely go for the Bblunt Intense Moisture Hair Serum. So you have the winner now 🙂 I use it almost every single day from the moment I purchased it and I am not even half way through the bottle. It is really good quality, affordable and does its job well.

Hope this comparison cum review helped you in some way. Let me know in the comment section if you have any other favorite hair serum so that I can try it in future.

Also if you own any of these 2 products, share your experience below.
