Glamego February 2018 – beauty subscription box review

Hello everybody !! Wish you a great weekend ahead.

I received my Glamego beauty subscription box for this month few days back. So I will be sharing with you the products I received and my first impression thoughts on them.

I subscribed to this box in November last year. So if you want to read review on any of the previous boxes, please check them out. This is an Indian monthly beauty subscription box which only costs INR 299 per box for 4 items.

February is a month of love. So I was expecting a Valentine’s day special romantic theme. But I was disappointed. This month’s box really looks bland and boring. I did not like the packaging at all.

Once you open the box you get a card where you can win Shopper’s stop voucher if you tag glamego and the usual list of items you get this month.

One exciting thing Glamego did this month is they sent an email and let me choose 1 face mask and 1 lip product among few options. Since I chose the Neemli face pack I did not get the Mcaffeine choco face pack mentioned in the list.

These are the products I received in this month’s box :

  1. Neemli Activated Charcoal Face Mask – INR 550 for 75g
  2. The Nature’s Co Saffron Radiance Face Cream – INR 550 for 25ml
  3. Kronokare Pollu-Stop Face protective screen – INR 495 for 30ml
  4. Bella Voste Ulti-matte Chubby Stick 02 Cat Fight – INR 499 for 3.8g

Neemli Activated Charcoal Face Mask :

I have combination skin (oily T-zone) and live in a very hot humid city. Summer is just round the corner here and so a Charcoal Face Mask plays a very important part in my skincare routine.

I heard good reviews about this Neemli face mask from Aishwarys Kaushal, one of my favorite Indian beauty youtuber. So I chose this one instead of the choco mask.

The packaging is simple but quite simple. The plastic bag is quite sturdy, but still I have transferred the mask into a plastic jar with lid for more convenience. I use a wooden spoon to take out the product to avoid contamination.

The ingredients are other details are mentioned at the back of the bag.

The product looks like any typical charcoal mask – a charcoal grey finely milled powder. You have to take 1 tablespoon of this mask and mix it with aloevera or rose water. You can even use water / milk / curd if you prefer. The product forms a smooth paste, it is better to use a brush to evenly apply a layer on your face except eyes and lip area. Let it dry down for about 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Do not forget to use a toner after you rinse off this mask.

If you live in a polluted, hot and humid city like me where your face has a lot of grime and sweat at the end of the day. Also if you suffer from oiliness, clogged pores, dull skin or acne, a face mask like this which is 100% chemical free, contains fuller’s earth (multani mitti), activated charcoal and clay is a must have. This product is really good and budget friendly. You get a lot of product in the bag which will last you long.

Though this type of face mask is more targeted to combination to oily skin, but dry skin people can also use it. Never forget to use a soothing toner to close your pores whichever skintype you belong. Also any charcoal / clay mask soaks up excess oil from your face, so nourish your face with a good moisturizer after toning whichever suits your skin type.

Overall I loved this product. Highly recommend !!

Kronocare Pollu-stop Face Protective screen :

Honestly speaking I did not understand what this product does in reality. After applying it on my face, I think it is a toner which may be protects your skin from harmful pollutants.

The packaging is very travel friendly. I now have another small spray bottle to carry my favorite product while traveling when the actual toner is used up.

The ingredient list and other details are mentioned at the back of the bottle.

The product is a water like runny liquid which you have to spray into your face. It does not have any distinct smell which is a good thing if you are sensitive to perfumed liquids.

But apart from just spraying a normal water into my face, I could not feel any other sensation. I did not even feel any refreshing / cooling sensation. It may be that the ingredients do a long term benefit in protecting the skin from harmful chemicals and pollutants as claimed by the brand. Apart from that it has no other function.

Since I have received this product, I will continue to use it whenever I go out to see if it really protects my skin or not. I will keep you updated ! Currently I am not sure of this.

The Nature’s Co. Saffron Radiance Face Cream :

This is a face cream exclusively available in Glamego. The product claims to tackle uneven skin tone and promotes youthful radiance. It diminishes age spots and keeps fine lines at bay.

The tub packaging is quite simple, but the orange lid makes it fun. The plastic is quite sturdy and the size of the product is very travel friendly.

The ingredient list and other details are mentioned at the back of the tub. I personally prefer a tube more than tub because it is more hygienic.

The product is pearly white and has a thin creamy consistency. I expected the cream to have a saffron smell, but instead it has a weird chemical like scent which I do not like. The smell is not much overpowering but I do not like it at all.

The product is quite moisturizing since it contains aloe vera extract and lot of essential oils like grape seed, wheatgerm, jojoba and almond. It does not leave any white cast or make your face oily. The cream absorbs pretty well into the skin in few seconds. It has a slight sticky feeling, which makes it good to apply under makeup.

I really liked the face cream I received in my January box – Natural Bath & Body Vital Nourishment cream. Me and my husband both love and use it daily. If you are looking for a new face cream I will suggest you to try the Natural Bath & body one.

I do not much like this month’s Nature Co. Face cream.

Bella Voste Ulti-Matte Chubby Stick :

I was highly impressed by Bella Voste lip products in all my previous boxes. I have a lipstick and a lip gloss from the same brand, you can check out those reviews if you want. I was excited to try their lip crayons, so chose these over other makeup items.

The name reminds me of the Clinique chubby sticks which I already own. They are without doubt very good quality but not so pocket friendly. I wanted to find if the Bella Voste chubby sticks can be a good contender to Clinique ones in a more affordable range.

The silver detailing and color coded retractable body is exactly same as the Clinique ones. Not only do they sound same, they even look same. First difference is that the Clinique ones are a little heavier and feel a bit more luxurious. The Bella Voste are quite sturdy but feel light and plastic-like. This is however not much of a con considering the price difference. The second distinct difference between the two is, the Clinique sticks are very moisturizing and feels like a highly pigmented lip balm. This product has a semi-matte texture and decently pigmented.

The ingredient and other details are mentioned in the box.

The shade I chose 02 Cat Fight is a very pretty coral color with pink undertones. The finish is not completely matte the name suggests. The tip of the crayon is similar to Clinique one, very convenient to apply on your lips. It is not transfer-proof but comfortable to wear and lasts at least 4 hours on my lips. I prefer to scrub my lips lightly before re-applying (I do this for any semi-matte, velvet matte or true matte lippies).

Only issue I found with this lip crayon is the pigmentation. You have to go over 3 to 4 times to get a opaque uniform application.

The Maybelline New York Color Show Intense Crayon costs INR 450, similar to the Bella Voste crayon but has better pigmentation. Also if you like a comfortable yet matte color crayon you can try Faces Ultime Pro Matte Lip Crayon which is one of my all-time favorite lip product.

If you are looking for a new Lip crayon to try in the affordable range, you can give this one a shot. Also this particular shade is pretty and will suit almost all skin tone.

Hope this review helped you in some way and you enjoyed reading it.

Let me know if you have already subscribed to Glamego and what products you received this month.
